Making art everywhere, and making it work for everyone

We often speak of valuing art, but we do not reward our local artists with anything like the regularity they need. While we cannot solve this problem through government, an alderman’s office can set the tone for support both for great ideas made manifest through various media but also the often-overlooked support of the artists who create that work.

What I am proposing

  • Partnership among the alderman’s office, local philanthropies, and individual and corporate donors to create a revolving fund for local art including music, theater, the plastic arts, and the written word
  • Connecting artists with resources to create effective business models that can sustain them over time
  • Supported lectures and discussions¬†
